I am a mechanical engineer born in 1953 with a lifetime interest in outdoor activities and fitness. My lovely wife of 46 years, Karen, and I live in Morgan Hill, Ca, a bit south of the San Francisco Bay Area. I have gone through and rehabbed from three major surgeries: two hip replacements, and a heart valve replacement due to a congenital condition. On this site, I will chronicle my efforts to stay active despite these and other bumps in the road. I also give advice based on what I have learned over the years on physical and mental training as well as diet. As an engineer, I am comfortable wading through scientific literature, and have tried to come up with an efficient solution to the problem of aging gracefully.
Check out the free ebooks page. Currently, there is one on Healthy Aging that covers my story and advice. I intend to add more in the future.
I certainly do not consider my story to be in any way unique. There are many people who have overcome bigger challenges than me to stay active. I will search out stories of other such people and post them, too.
I also would like you to hear your story of staying active while aging or overcoming challenges. Please feel free to add it on the “introduce yourself” page.
