We all know people with big egos. They can stumble around life stepping on other’s toes because their needs and desires are all that matter. Eknath Easwaran joked that such people need to be preceded with someone carrying a red flag and a sign warning of “wide load”. We all prefer someone with a more “normal” level of ego. But spiritual teachers all point out that this can be carried much further, and that in fact, the more humble we become, the happier we will be.
